Medicom Toys’ MAFEX line is going head to head with Bandai’s S.H. Figuarts line with their very own 1/12 scale Mark 44 (AKA Hulkbuster) based on its appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. MAFEX looks like it’s going to try and one up S.H. Figuarts in almost every aspect starting with its height of approximately 270mm putting it slightly taller than Bandai’s version at 250mm. It’s also got an awesome feature where it looks like the head and top armor can be moved to reveal Iron Man himself inside. If that’s not enough, it’s also priced very competitively at 27,500JPY compared to Bandai’s 34,560JPY list price. Articulation looks to be about the same for both although it’s not known if MAFEX’s will have light up features or die-cast which the S.H. Figuarts’ version has. MAFEX Hulkbuster will be released in September 2016.
Bandai has finally revealed their SH Figuarts Hulkbuster figure after first teasing it back in March. It will stand at about 25cm(over 9 feet!) and feature die cast parts (hence the Chogokin in the name) and LED lighting. It will be available for pre-order at Bandai’s Tamashii Web Shop as an exclusive on May 29 at the price of 34,560JPY with availability on January 2016.
After revealing their S.H. Figuarts Iron Man Mark 43 – based on his upcoming appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron – Bandai’s Tamashii Nations, has finally revealed the rest of their Avengers line up. And boy do they look good. Captain America sports his new and improved costume, Thor is an improvement – in my opinion (although wish the cape was cloth and not plastic) – over Figma’s release and Hulk is just glorious and towering. Finally a hulk that isn’t riddled with veins! And if that wasn’t enough, they added another killer teaser in the form of a silhouette of what could only be a gigantic Hulkbuster figure. No release date or prices announced yet.
After being leaked through grainy pics during the Nuremberg Toy Fair last January, Hasbro finally revealed their much awaited Combiner Wars Devastator at Toy Fair 2015. Purportedly designed with the help of acclaimed Transformers Masterpiece designer Hasui, this humongous figure is breaming with G1 inspired goodness. It will be available Fall 2015 with a retail price of $149.99.

A completely new Evangelion clip from the recently announced Evangelion: Another Impact (Japanese). I’m not sure if this is just a trailer or the short film itself. It’s only about 5 minutes and seems to be complete. More info can be found at Anime News Network. Enjoy.
Mondo is releasing a 16-inch Iron Giant deluxe figure based on the titular giant robot from the movie. Here’s the description from the figure’s product page where you can preorder it for $299USD:
The Iron Giant Deluxe Figure is the most highly detailed Iron Giant collectible to date! Created using the actual digital files used in the film, the figure features over 30 points of articulation, two interchangeable heads with a light up feature, magnetic “S” that can be detached from its sign and attached to his chest, switch-out “War Arm,” Hogarth mini-figure, and a girder to munch on! In addition to this, the figure also includes a sound feature, with Iron Giant quotes from the film!
IO9 has an article with more details about the figure and awesome clip of Iron Giant director Brad Bird gushing over the figure.
Mondo’s Iron Giant is expected to ship 3rd Quarter of 2015.
Hot Toys has updated their website showing off their upcoming 1/6 scale Captain America based on his appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. I must say this is probably my favorite version of his suit so far and way better than the one he wore in the first Avengers movie. Aside from the new suit, it looks like Cap’s shield got a bit of an upgrade as well. No longer does it have the straps to wrap around his arm. It’s now just a retractable handle and some magnets that keep it in place. I wonder if this reflects on the film. I can totally see Stark making this upgrade as he looks to be bankrolling the Avengers now after S.H.I.E.L.D.’s collapse.

If you’re reading this, you’ve probably noticed this website doesn’t look exactly like the one you were looking at yesterday or maybe a couple of days/weeks/months/years ago. I have switched to using WordPress to power this blog as opposed to before, where I was hand cranking posts using what’s called a static site generator called Middleman. While great in that you get an awful lot of control with how I build my blog, it’s also a lot of work as you have to, well, build everything yourself. I wrote my posts on a text editor, generate static HTML files for them and then upload all the changes to the website. There are also a lot of features that’s just either impossible or would take to much work to implement such as comments and image galleries.
With this new WordPress-powered version of my site, posting should now be easier for me, thus hopefully accelerating my output and I should be able to put in some fancy new stuff like the aforementioned comments and galleries. I’m currently working off a default WordPress theme right now, but hopefully as I learn more about how to work this thing, I’ll be able to get it looking more to my liking with the Chodenji logo back at the top and looking much spiffier.
